The Inspiration Behind Insurance by Trever in Clearwater, FL

Hi, I'm Trever Dahms!

I'm a Florida transplant, born and raised in the small town of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. My journey down to Clearwater was full of twists and turns. It started at the University of Wisconsin, where after four years I still wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. So I made the obvious choice — and joined the United States Army.

While in the Army, I served as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician. In layman's terms, I was part of the military's bomb squad. It was an exciting job that led to meeting some extraordinary people. Over five years of service — including a deployment — the majority of my time was spent at Fort Drum, New York. Needless to say, I was ready to escape the snow.

After leaving the Army, I moved to Asheville, North Carolina. I still wanted to make a positive impact on my community, so I went back to school and became a teacher — specifically, a Middle School Math Teacher. Everyone's favorite subject at everyone's favorite age. While in Asheville, I met my now-wife, Erica. When she had the opportunity to pursue a career in Clearwater, I followed her south.

Why I Love What I Do

I'm passionate about researching insurance options, understanding the differences between companies and plans, evaluating your needs, and meeting people face-to-face to help them navigate the complexities of the insurance world.

In this office, I don't sell. I'm not driven by data dashboards or reports passed down from a corporate office. I have conversations. I get to know people. I figure out exactly what's needed to protect everything they hold dear. My clients aren't numbers or a paycheck — they're neighbors, friends, and family. No one is too big or too small to be part of this family. Everyone is welcome.

Life Outside the Office

My wife Erica and I live in Clearwater with our Aussiedoodle, Dasher, and our two boys. Our oldest is just over two years old and fully committed to exploring every corner of his small world. Our youngest, born March 15, 2026, is the newest addition to the Dahms crew — and we couldn't be more grateful.

When I'm not helping clients or chasing little ones around the house, you can find me at the gym, the golf course, or the bowling alley — in whatever free time I can find.
